NOW LIVE - UWP's second annual call for book proposals
After a successful first run in autumn 2025, we are repeating our ‘open call’ for new proposals this autumn.
A Digital-First Open Access publisher, University of Westminster Press provides a high-quality open access publication route for journals and books. Our aim is to achieve the widest and most cost-effective possible dissemination of research. Open access is central to what we do: it ensures that the potential audience is greatly expanded, helping to increase the impact of research. We also offer readers the option of purchasing our books in print at very accessible prices.
After a successful first run in autumn 2025, we are repeating our ‘open call’ for new proposals this autumn.
You can submit your proposal from now until 17 December 2026.
We welcome proposals from researchers and academics looking to publish their monograph, edited collection or policy intervention with an intellectually curious, cutting-edge, scholar-led press, committed to the principles of Open Access.
We aim to publish in areas that reflect the teaching and research strengths of the University of Westminster across the social sciences and humanities, science and technology, media, art and design, business and management. We are particularly interested in interdisciplinary proposals that look to expand beyond the barriers of traditional academic disciplines – and traditional academic publishers.
The process
All proposals will be acknowledged on receipt and by no later than 23 December. Members of the Press Editorial and Management Boards will meet within six to eight weeks of the closing date to review all proposals received. All accepted proposals and manuscripts are rigorously peer reviewed to established scholarly publishing standards.
We passionately believe in the OA mission, to make excellent scholarship available free of charge to a wider readership. UWP aspires to be a ‘diamond’ OA press – that is, free to read AND free to publish without costs to the author or their host institution.
Guidelines
Guidelines for what is required from your proposal can be found on the UWP website.
Alternatively, please contact John Atkinson, the UWP Manager, at J.Atkinson@westminster.ac.uk to request a proposal form or for an initial informal discussion. (Please note that with regret we cannot accept proposals for books intended for publication before the end of 2027.)
Please send your proposal to J.Atkinson@westminster.ac.uk before 18 December.
